What is Remedial Massage?
Remedial Massage covers a number of different massage therapies and techniques, designed to specifically assist with your health requirements. As part of our team approach to your health and well being we may include one or more of these massage therapies in your treatment plan.
What types of Massage do we offer?
Trigger Point Therapy.
Trigger point therapy is a form of remedial massage in which direct pressure is applied to specific points within muscle tissue to reduce muscle tension and increase pain relief.
All muscles have potential trigger points which can be turned on by muscle overuse, trauma, electrolyte imbalances, nerve pain, stress and inflammation. These trigger points can cause pain in the muscle affected and/or refer pain to other areas of the body.
Trigger Point Therapy (TPT) is is used all around the world to relieve pain and can be beneficial for most people suffering from muscle tension.
Trigger Point Therapy can help with:
- Sports injuries
- Neck pain
- Shoulder pain
- Sciatica
- Headaches
- Muscular pain
- Knee pain
- Shin Splints
- Lower back pain
Myofascial Release Therapy.
Myofasical Release is a type of therapy that focuses on myofascial tissues, the tough membranes that encase, connect and support your musculoskeletal system.
Gradual pressure is applied to stiff areas of the body, which helps release muscles, increase flexibility and restore strength.
Deep Tissue Massage.
Deep tissue massage targets the inner layers of your muscles, it’s used to treat muscle and tendon dysfunction and stiffness. Is great for everyday people and athletes.
Sports Massage
Sports massages are great for targeting specific areas that become tense after engaging in sporting activities. This is great to assist in recovery, prevent or to treat injuries for athletes and individuals that are under a lot of physical stress.
Relaxation Massage
If you’re after a more gentle treatment, remedial massage can help you relax, remove tension and improve circulation. Pressure can be determined by your preference. This is a great massage to relax the mind and the body and to take some time to switch off.
Myotherapy
Myotherapy includes all the skills and techniques of a remedial massage therapist but with their additional qualifications they are able to perform more advanced techniques. These include dry needling and cupping, pregnancy massage and they have a wide range of knowledge to provide additional exercises whether that be to strengthen or to stretch the muscles. Our Myotherapists at Mt Eliza Family Chiropractic focus on improving your overall muscle function so you can function at your best.
