Paediatric Chiropractor Moorooduc – Infant & Child Chiropractic Care
Mt Eliza Family Chiropractic Clinic has been offering Chiropractic care for children and babies for over 35 years to the Moorooduc community.
Paediatrics in the chiropractic profession is founded on the idea that children are distinct individuals going through the stages of development, not simply ‘small adults’. A paediatric chiropractor provides gentle care to children while always adhering to clinical guidelines that would indicate a referral to other healthcare professionals if needed.
How Chiropractic Care Can Assist Infants and Children
Our chiropractors are able to treat various concerns that babies and children may experience. Conditions we commonly treat include:
Poor Posture
Statistics say that 73% of parents are concerned about their child’s posture, especially with increased use of phones and tablets leading to slouching and potential spine and neck issues.
Mt. Eliza Family Chiropractic uses a technology-driven postural assessment system that identifies even the slightest postural deviations, produces a report featuring your child’s unique postural images, and analyses the data to link the postural distortions to specific spinal biomechanics. This assessment allows us to create a personalised care plan and monitor your child’s progress and improvements over time.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis is most commonly observed in children aged 10 to 15, but it can also appear in younger children between the ages of 3 and 10 (juvenile scoliosis) and even in infants (infantile scoliosis). Its effects may include poor posture, shoulder humping, muscle weakness, and spinal pain, and it can be a more serious condition in children as it may quickly progress during growth spurts. A children’s chiropractor can manage scoliosis in several ways to help reduce pain and restore proper function.
Traumatic Birth Syndrome
Traumatic Birth Syndrome describes the potential for spinal damage in infants resulting from the birth process. This condition has been well supported by medical research and can lead to a variety of health concerns. Our chiropractors can perform a detailed orthopaedic and neurological examination of your child to identify and treat any possible problems.
Plagiocephaly
Deformational Plagiocephaly is a condition characterised by a flat spot on the back or one side of an infant’s head caused by uneven pressure on the skull which may lead to developmental delays.
Our chiropractors can offer advice on positioning your baby during sleep or while lying down and will go over the management options available, including the use of the TinyYears pillow, designed by Dr Glenn Maginness.
Neurological Developmental Assessment
Neurological Developmental Screening Tests assess which areas of a child’s brain are functioning at the expected level for their age and/or which areas may not be. These results give us valuable information about whether your child could benefit from treatment and, if so, which type of treatment would be most appropriate.
Our chiropractors are trained in the field of paediatric neurological assessment and management including the integration of retained primitive reflexes and vestibular system support.
