FAQs

Who needs chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care is for all ages. Everyone can benefit from safe, gentle and effective chiropractic care. In our office, we use chiropractic techniques which are extremely effective for everyone from infants through to the elderly.

Does chiropractic hurt?
Definitely NOT! The techniques and procedures employed at our clinic are very safe, gentle and painless, and are adapted to the specific needs of each patient, from the newborn child through to the elderly.

At what age should chiropractic begin?
All newborn babies should have their spines checked by a chiropractor especially after a difficult or traumatic birth. (Click here to learn more about a condition known as Traumatic Birth Syndrome). There are five chiropractors who make up the Mt.Eliza Chiropractic Clinic team and they have all undertaken postgraduate training in the area of Chiropractic Paediatrics and are very experienced with children.

Can chiropractic prevent back surgery?
In a number of cases the answer is a resounding "Yes." Chiropractic, because it is safe and non-invasive should always be an option explored by any person contemplating spinal surgery.

Can a person who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?
Yes. It is an unfortunate fact that approximately half of those patients who have had spinal surgery suffer a return of their original symptoms months or years later. They then may face the prospect of additional surgery. This too common occurrence is known as "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome." Chiropractic may certainly help prevent repeated operations.

Is chiropractic safe for children?
Yes. Chiropractic is one of the safest forms of healthcare available. Statistically your child is likely to be struck by lightening TWICE than to be seriously injured by a chiropractor.

Is chiropractic safe for adults?
Yes. Chiropractic is one of the safest forms of healthcare available for all ages. In fact the anti-inflammatory medications that are routinely handed out by medical doctors carry a risk of harm many thousands of times greater than chiropractic care.

Why don't Medical Doctors recommend chiropractic?
Actually every day more and more Chiropractors and medical doctors are working together in clinics and on joint research projects. Most medical doctors will have patients who are under chiropractic care, in fact many  doctors are chiropractic patients themselves.

I feel OK. Why should I see a chiropractor?
Why should you go to the Chiropractor when you feel fine? Unlike going to the medical doctor, the importance of seeing a Chiropractor has little to do with being sick or even how you feel. The role of your Chiropractor is purely and simply to assess you for the presence of the Vertebral Subluxation.

A Vertebral Subluxation may affect your health and decrease your ability to express your maximum health potential. There maybe no signs or symptoms to tell you that something is amiss! That is why it makes sense to see your Chiropractor regularly .

Your chiropractor is the only one who is trained to find nerve interference caused by Vertebral Subluxation and remove it before any devastating effects can occur.

How often should I get a spinal adjustment?
The answer is "As soon as you develop spinal nerve stress, or Vertebral Subluxation." But since Vertebral Subluxations are often painless you therefore may not even be aware of their presence. We therefore recommend regular spinal check ups to ensure you are functioning at your best.

Do chiropractors need a special license to practice?
As a licensed and government regulated health professional, the Doctor of Chiropractic must be fully registered to practice. He or she can only attain this registration by completing a full 5 or 6 year University course.

Do all chiropractors use the same techniques?
Chiropractors have a large variety of techniques and approaches which they can use to evaluate and provide care to their patients. The techniques and procedures employed in our clinic are very safe and gentle, and are adapted to the specific needs of each patient, from the newborn child right through to the elderly.

Does my Health Insurance cover Chiropractic?
Many private health insurance companies now cover chiropractic care. We have the HICAPS  system available in our clinic which enables us to receive payment electronically directly from your insurance company. All you need to do is to pay the 'gap'. This makes a visit to our clinic much easier for everyone.
